Types of air monitoring

We undertake a full range of airborne fibre monitoring services in accordance with HSG248 – Asbestos: The Analysts’ Guide, including:

  • Background monitoring – undertaken prior to asbestos works to establish existing fibre levels
  • Leak monitoring – used during licensed removal works to detect fibre escape from enclosures
  • Personal monitoring – assessing operatives’ exposure during asbestos works
  • Reassurance monitoring – confirming fibre levels following asbestos works
  • Four-stage clearance testing – statutory testing following licensed asbestos removal
  • Near Source monitoring – sampling to investigate or assess exposer from asbestos release
  • Far Source monitoring – monitoring around a location or site where fibres may be present

Independent compliance assurance

Our experienced analysts provide independent verification that asbestos works are being carried out safely and in accordance with regulatory and procedural requirements. This helps clients demonstrate effective control of asbestos risks and contractor performance.

Four-stage clearance and Certification of Reoccupation

Where licensed asbestos removal has been undertaken, our UKAS-accredited analysts carry out the statutory four-stage clearance process, including visual inspection and air testing. Upon successful completion, a Certificate of Reoccupation is issued confirming the area is safe for normal use.

Clear documentation and full audit trail

Life Environmental provides comprehensive documentation to support compliance and project records, including:

  • Air monitoring certificates and results
  • Four-stage clearance documentation
  • Certificates of Reoccupation
  • Site audit records where required
  • Full monitoring logs and supporting data

Our reporting provides a clear and auditable record demonstrating that asbestos risks have been properly controlled throughout the works.

All analytical activities are carried out within our certified quality management systems, including ISO 9001 certification, providing additional assurance of technical competence, consistency, and service quality.
