What is Legionnaires’ Disease?

Legionnaires’ disease is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia caused by inhaling small droplets of water (aerosols) containing Legionella bacteria.
It is not spread from person to person. Infection occurs when contaminated water droplets are inhaled from sources such as:

• Spa pools
• Taps and spray outlets
